I am a mom to 2 beasties. Boys that is, wonderful boys. I think if I say that enough it will be true. In all honesty I would rather have boys than girls... We girls are just too much work...sigh... Sorry Mom!!!
My oldest, The Teen is 13 years old, my sweet baby boy, my first born. Something happened when he turned 13, a switch flipped and he became something I didn't recognize. I love him though, he is an awesome kid, despite his "teen-ness". He is in 8th grade and doing well, in several advanced level classes. He is a bit socially awkward and doesn't have many friends. I know that this makes middle school tough for him, but I hope he make it through this year unscathed. I am hoping that he comes out of his shell next year in High School and makes some good friends. My best friend in the whole wide world went to High School with me. He is a good looking kid, tall and lean, OK it might be gangly at his age, but he'll grow into it, he is already taller than me and getting taller every day. He takes Kendo lessons (Japanese Fencing) and likes all things related to video games. What a shock, huh?
My little one, PipSqueak, is exactly that my little one, at 8 years old he is on the small side for his age, but cute as can be. He is in the 3rd grade this year and is super smart, like smart that I didn't expect. I know that most moms don't say that but I totally didn't expect how smart he is. When they showed me his test scores I asked if that could be a fluke. Its not that I didn't know he was smart, I just didn't know HOW smart he was. He is always the youngest in his class having only made the cut-off by 2 weeks. He is in what they call Talent Development classes, I had to ask 3 people to figure that out, its the new way to say TAG, remember that? Yep, I grew up in the 80's where all the smart kids were in TAG. Not me, by the way, just the smart kids. Pip is a kid that loves people, had a bunch of friends, is super talkative, and wants to be involved in every single activity. For now I have him restricted to Cub Scouts and Swimming and Baseball in the spring. He informed me just the other day that he will be playing an instrument in the 4th grade.
So those are my Beastie Boys... They are pretty awesome, sometimes a pain in the butt and often high maintenance, but cool kids.
